MUMBAI: RBI has redistributed portfolios among its deputy governors following the retirement of Michael Patra on Tuesday. Govt is interviewing economists as candidates for Patra’s successor, with RBI executive director Rajiv Ranjan reportedly in contention. Patra, who joined RBI in 1985, was named deputy governor on Jan 14, 2020, for a three-year term, succeeding Viral Acharya. He holds a PhD in economics from IIT-B. His term was extended twice, with the last extension ending this year. Patra was the only members of RBI’s MPC since inception.
