The domestic mutual fund industry logged outflows to the tune of Rs 1.64 lakh crore in March, though assets under management grew 1.9 per cent to Rs 65.74 lakh crore, showed data from the Association of Mutual Fund of India (AMFI) released on Friday. However, inflows in growth or equity-focused schemes stood at Rs 25,082 crore during the month, with net inflows across categories, the industry body’s data released.
Here are key things to know about the latest monthly data set:
1. Within the open-ended umbrella, liquid funds faced the biggest chunk of outflows, at Rs 1,33,034 crore, followed by money-market funds (Rs 21,301.1 crore). Close-ended schemes saw outflows of Rs 226.5 crore, according to the data.

2. Within the ‘growth/equity-oriented’ category of schemes, flexicap and smallcap funds secured the biggest chunk of inflows, amounting to Rs 9,707.1 crore, the data showed.

Outflows in Debt Funds
3. In the debt fund category, outflows were recorded at Rs 2,02,663 crore last month, with AUMs at Rs 15,20,705.8 crore, as of March 31.

4. On the flipside, hybrid funds saw overall outflows of Rs 946.6 crore last month.

How Solutions-oriented schemes fared
5. Solutions-oriented schemes—such as retirement funds and children’s funds—attracted inflows to Rs 241.2 crore last month.

6. Inflows of Rs 25,926 crore were recorded in mutual fund investments through the SIP route in March, declining from Rs 25,999 crore the previous month.
7. Assets under management in SIPs stood at Rs 13.35 lakh crore, marking an increase from Rs 12.38 lakh crore in February.
