Bank Holidays 2025: Banks across several states in India will observe holidays this week due to the Diwali festivities, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) state-wise holiday calendar.
Customers are advised to plan their banking transactions as branches will remain closed on multiple days during the week.
The week-long observances include Diwali, Govardhan Pooja, Balipadyami, and Bhai Dooj. These festivals celebrate the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, marking Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana.
On these days, banks in different regions will remain closed, while on other days will follow regular banking hours.

Monday, 20 October 2025
Banks will remain closed in several states on account of Diwali, Naraka Chaturdashi, and Kali Puja. Regions observing the holiday include Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vijayawada.

Banks will be closed in Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Imphal, Jammu, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, and Srinagar for Diwali Amavasya, Deepawali, and Govardhan Pooja.
Wednesday, 22 October 2025
Banking services will not be available in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Nagpur due to Diwali, Vikram Samvant New Year, Govardhan Pooja, Balipadyami, and Laxmi Puja.

Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Shimla for Bhai Bij, Bhaidooj, Chitragupt Jayanti, Laxmi Puja, Bhratridwitiya, and Ningol Chakkouba.

No scheduled bank holidays. Normal banking operations will continue across the country.
Saturday, 25 October 2025
Banks will be closed nationwide on account of the fourth Saturday closure.
Sunday, 26 October 2025
Banks will remain closed nationwide for the regular Sunday holiday.
Upcoming Holidays
On 27-28 October, banks in select cities will remain closed for Chhath Puja. On 31 October, banks in Ahmedabad will be closed for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birthday.
Services Available on Bank Holidays
Even on bank holidays, online banking and mobile banking services will remain operational. Customers can carry out transactions like fund transfers via NEFT/RTGS, demand draft requests, and cheque deposits. ATM, debit, and credit card services will continue to function, and forms for account maintenance, locker requests, or setting up standing instructions can also be submitted online.
With multiple bank holidays lined up during the Diwali week, customers should complete urgent financial transactions in advance to avoid any inconvenience.
