Airport Travel Advisory: Airport authorities, Air India, and IndiGo have issued travel advisories for passengers on Monday, December 15, as dense fog continues to disrupt services at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport and other airports in northern India. On Monday morning, visibility was badly affected due to a thick layer of fog in Delhi. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the national capital’s overall air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 452 at around 8 am, putting it in the “severe” category. This is in line with the trend seen on Sunday, when the AQI was 461 at around 4 pm.
Airports Authority of India Travel Advisory
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, encourages passengers to stay updated about the operational status of their flight. In its advisory, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has urged passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport to avoid waiting for long hours at the airport in case of flight cancellation or delay.
“Before heading to the airport, please check the latest flight status with your airline. Check flight information on the airport website/app. Please allow extra travel time,” AAI said.
“Safety is our top priority. Our teams & ATC are working tirelessly to minimize disruptions,” it added.
Air India Travel Advisory
Air India Airlines has also issued an advisory, urging passengers to stay updated about their flight status through the official website.
Through a post on X, Air India advised, “#TravelAdvisory…Poor visibility due to dense fog is impacting flight operations in Delhi and parts of Northern India. Please check your flight status at: https://www.airindia.com/in/en/manage/flight-status.html before heading to the airport.”
Indigo Travel Advisory
In its advisory, IndiGo said that due to low visibility and fog in Delhi, flight schedules will be affected and passengers will face inconvenience. The airline also informed that some flights may be cancelled as a precautionary measure to prioritise passenger safety and reduce long waiting times at airports.
In a post on the social media platform X, IndiGo wrote, “Travel Advisory…Low visibility and fog over #Delhi will impact flight schedules. We’re keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly.”
The airline urged passengers to remain vigilant and keep checking flight status through the IndiGo website or app and assured full assistance from airline staff.
“We request you to stay updated on your flight status via our website or app. Be assured, our teams are here to assist you at every step and ensure support… Here’s hoping dearer skies help us serve you better soon, and thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time,” they added.
