Mutual funds recorded a net outflow of Rs 2,39,910 crore in March 2026, mainly due to heavy redemptions in debt-oriented schemes, according to AMFI data.
Total assets under management (AUM) stood at Rs 73,73,376.98 crore at the end of March.
Equity schemes record inflows
Equity-oriented schemes reported a net inflow of Rs 40,450.26 crore during the month. Flexi cap funds saw the highest inflow at Rs 10,054.12 crore. Small-cap funds attracted Rs 6,263.56 crore, while mid-cap funds saw inflows of Rs 6,063.53 crore.
Large and mid-cap funds recorded inflows of Rs 5,307.25 crore. Large-cap funds saw inflows of Rs 2,997.84 crore, and multi-cap funds attracted Rs 2,981.55 crore.
Sectoral and thematic funds reported inflows of Rs 2,698.82 crore. Focused funds saw inflows of Rs 2,424.59 crore, while value/contra funds received Rs 2,155.55 crore.
Dividend yield funds saw a marginal outflow of Rs 59.21 crore, while ELSS recorded a net outflow of Rs 437.34 crore.
Debt schemes see outflows
Debt-oriented schemes reported a net outflow of Rs 2,94,987.18 crore in March. Liquid funds saw outflows of Rs 1,34,987.64 crore. Overnight funds recorded outflows of Rs 40,227.90 crore, while money market funds saw outflows of Rs 29,206.98 crore.
Low-duration funds reported outflows of Rs 25,227.46 crore, and short-duration funds saw outflows of Rs 22,193.50 crore.
Corporate bond funds recorded outflows of Rs 15,292.59 crore, while ultra short duration funds saw outflows of Rs 16,087.25 crore.
Gilt funds reported outflows of Rs 3,078.40 crore. Banking and PSU funds saw outflows of Rs 2,274.08 crore, and dynamic bond funds recorded outflows of Rs 1,741.04 crore.
Hybrid schemes report outflows
Hybrid schemes recorded a net outflow of Rs 16,538.47 crore. Arbitrage funds saw outflows of Rs 21,113.70 crore. Equity savings funds reported outflows of Rs 1,131.18 crore, and conservative hybrid funds saw outflows of Rs 218.35 crore.
Dynamic asset allocation funds recorded outflows of Rs 282.51 crore. Balanced hybrid funds reported inflows of Rs 994.53 crore, while multi-asset allocation funds saw inflows of Rs 5,212.73 crore.
ETFs and passive funds
Gold ETFs recorded net inflows of Rs 2,265.68 crore during March. Other ETFs saw inflows of Rs 19,802.41 crore. Index funds recorded inflows of Rs 8,168.76 crore.
Fund of funds investing overseas saw inflows of Rs 530.75 crore.
Solution-oriented schemes
Solution-oriented schemes recorded net inflows of Rs 256.30 crore. Retirement funds saw inflows of Rs 28.69 crore, while children’s funds recorded inflows of Rs 227.60 crore.
New fund offers (NFOs)
A total of 23 new schemes were launched in March, mobilising Rs 3,743 crore. These included 8 equity schemes, which raised Rs 1,947 crore, 3 hybrid schemes, which mobilised Rs 59 crore, and 12 schemes under other categories, which collected Rs 1,737 crore. One fixed-term plan under the debt category raised Rs 242 crore.
