Ambareesh Murty, co-founder of Pepperfry, passed away in Leh due to a cardiac arrest, announced fellow co-founder Ashish Shah on Tuesday.
“Extremely devastated to inform that my friend, mentor, brother, soulmate Ambareesh Murty is no more. Lost him yesterday night to a cardiac arrest at Leh. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones,” wrote Ashish Shah, co-founder of the furniture and home décor company, in a post on social media platform X.
In 2012, Ambareesh Murty and Ashish Shah pioneered omnichannel retail to launch Pepperfry, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace for furniture and home goods.
In the last decade, Pepperfry has disrupted the tenets of classical retail by combining an online virtual catalogue, an extensive in-house supply chain, and a large omnichannel footprint covering more than 100 cities in India. Life can be a ‘bed of roses’ (if the bed is from Pepperfry).
