PM-KISAN 23rd Installment: Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme (PM-KISAN), eligible farmer households get Rs 6000 yearly in three installments of Rs 2000 each. As the 23rd installment is expected soon, thousands of farmers are checking their payment status, while many are still waiting for the credit.
According to the authorities, any problem in getting the Rs 2000 installments is mostly associated with the mistakes made during the documentation process. As of May 2026, the government has made electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) necessary for all those who benefit from the program. Non-compliance with this mandate is one of the leading causes for blocking payment to farmers.
Here are 5 common mistakes that could stop your Rs 2000 PM-KISAN installment:
1) Incomplete verification of E-KYC
Without E-KYC verification being done, the installment is going to be automatically retained. As stated by the government, the payment won’t be made without E-KYC verification.
2) Aadhaar not linked with bank account
Aadhaar seeding or direct benefit transfer (DBT) entails linking your Aadhaar with a bank account. In the event that there is no seeding done through the NPCI and Aadhaar system, then the payment process will fail.
3) Land seeding or unverified land records
The PM-Kisan payments will require you to verify your land records first. Failure to provide the correct details including khasra and khatauni numbers could mean that your payment process will be hampered.
4) Inaccurate details or errors in registration details
Incorrect information provided during the registration process can make the installment fail. This could entail an error in your bank account number, IFSC code, or names being mismatched.
5) Exclusion under PM-KISAN scheme guidelines
Farmers who fall under exclusion categories—such as those who acquired land after February 1, 2019, or those paying income tax—are not eligible for benefits.
What should farmers do now?
The beneficiaries have been instructed to confirm their status in terms of receiving benefits using the “Know Your Status” option on the official PM-KISAN website. In case there is any problem, they are supposed to:
- Complete e-KYC using the official website or Kisan eMitra chatbot
- Consult a Common Service Centre (CSC)
- Link Aadhaar account with their bank
- Verify land records from the agriculture department
PM-KISAN 23rd Installment: How to complete e-KYC?
The process can be completed online by visiting the PM-KISAN portal, filling in the Aadhaar information, and using the OTP sent to the registered mobile phone for verification purposes. Biometric-based e-KYC service is also available at CSC centres.
Land verification process
The applicants need to submit proof of ownership of the land such as Khasra/Khatauni with the PM-KISAN registration number to the agriculture department. After authentication, land seeding will be done.
Aadhaar-bank linking
For a hassle-free direct benefit transfer, farmers need to map their NPCI details by going to their respective banks with their Aadhaar card and passbook.
With the 23rd installment approaching, officials emphasise that keeping records updated is the key to avoiding delays. Even a small mismatch in details can temporarily block the Rs 2000 payment.
